| BJP takes out Matka
rally to highlight water problem |
Leader of the Opposition in the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC)
and BJP leader Rameshwar Sharma has asserted on Friday that state
capital has been facing the worst ever water crisis in history and
the inefficiency of the BMC has aggravated the situation even further.
He added that Kolar water pipeline has developed serious leakage at
several points.
Addressing his party colleagues who took out a 'Matka rally' on
Friday to highlight the existing water problem, Sharma said that
BMC and Mayor Vibha Patel had totally failed to live up to the expectations
of the common people. "The BMC is charging Rs 150 per month
as water cess since the past nine months but residents are not getting
even the minimum amount of required drinking water," Sharma
said. The BJP activists, led by Sharma, took out a 'Matka rally'at
12 No Bus Stop near Indranagar Market in protest against existing
serious water crisis in Ward No 47, 48, 50, 51 and Ward No 52.
Sharma said the situation had gone out of proportion mainly due
to negligent attitude of BMC to make serious efforts to find a permanent
solution to recurring water problem.
He said that if Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Mayor Ms Vibha
Patel did not make immediate alternative arrangements to supply
drinking water the whole city will turn into a place of dharna
and agitation.
