Anil's contribution in raising environmental awareness and scientific understanding and in fighting injustice in India and elsewhere is widely recognised. The clarity and strength of his articulation of the interests of poor countries and poor people in the various efforts at global treaty making was speciallly welcome. He never minced words, never tailored his message to the audience and always spoke with such passion and lucidity that he commanded complete attention.
