        Practice: Private practice mostly gets restricted to canine and feline pets.
        A private practitioner can take also up part time assignments in hospitals run by

        surgeons attached to government hospitals mainly deals with pet animals. They are also
        posted in rural areas where responsibility extends to cattle, goats, horses, sheep, etc.
        Veterinary doctors working as extensive officers at block levels are a farmer's friend,
        giving advice on animal farm management and animal health problems. At least one extensive
        officer is required at the block level to manage diseases, and the various animals schemes

        dairy sector mainly needs vet specialists for ensuring increase in milk yield, and

        | Pharmaceutical companies: Vets
        can also work as development personnel in drug, diagnostic and vaccine sectors of
        pharmaceutical companies and institutes, producing vaccines, drugs, animal feed and
        fertilizers. A vet can also join a pharmaceutical company as a marketing officer. |

        | Academics: Veterinary
        doctors are also needed as research scholars in institutes and animal welfare societies.

        absorbed in army military veterinary corps equivalent in all respect to army medical
        corps. They can work in BSF, ITBP and other paramilitary organizations, to look after

        more and more species of animals being threatened, captive breeding is one area which is
        becoming important. Vets play an important role here. Wildlife and zoo vets promotes
        natural ecology and cater to health problems of wildlives in zoos, wildlife sanctuaries

        | Poultry Farms: They
        are required here to develop strains with high egg productivity, besides general health
        supervision. There are central poultry breeding farms where hybrid and broiler egg

        veterinary professional can earn anything between Rs.5000 to Rs.50,000 per month. As an
        assistant professor he can earn anything above Rs.5000 and a livestock development officer
