Media Alert

The Media Resource Centre initiated the fortnightly Media Alert service for our friends in media. The alert’s aim is to provide leads and resource guides to mediapeople for key development/environment stories and subjects of the fortnight that they can investigate further and write about. The alert provides some very brief pointers to these stories and gives lists of select resource people/institutions. The alerts encourage journalists to look at breaking news with a new perspective, and help her/him make the linkages and write with better understanding.

The archives have been segregated issue wise. You can click on your areas of interest to view the related alert.

Media Alert Feedback

"Congrats. This is really a need-based good work. Development Journalists and social thinkers would be greatly benefited by this media alert. I have already forwarded the alert to many journo pals! Please keep sending."

Shree Padre, Journalist, Kerala

"I received the media alert No 01, and it is useful for me to get updated what is happening with the world environment. I just want to comment on one issue, since I come from Sri Lanka, which got badly effected by the recent tsunami, we are in the second place where the lost of lives concern, and the entire fishing industry is destroyed; it'll take years to build it up. Then again people have faced major sanitation problem and drinking water too, there are lots of stories behind the story, I request you all to give attention to these issues too."

Tharidi Fonseka, Journalist, Sri Lanka

"Thank you so much for the media alert! I find it extremely useful for my work and I am so grateful that you also mention experts with their contact numbers!"

Brigitte Voykowitsch, Journalist, Vienna, Austria

"Thanks for this. It's as useful as the ones before it. One suggestion: even if you have mentioned contact details in earlier mails please repeat them when you mention the person again at a later date. Hope you can oblige."

Lyla Bavadam, Frontline, Mumbai, Maharashtra

"Thanks for reviving the media alert yet again. I really appreciate your effort. These news/story alerts from your organization would indeed help an environmental journalist like me to bring the facts out in public from time to time."
