In
the Singhola the first sand formation exists upto a depth of 28m below
ground level (bgl), which is followed by layer of Kankar and silt
which exists upto a depth of 36m bgl, which is followed by impermeable
layer of clay and kankar from 36 to 40m below ground level. This clay
layer is followed by layer of Kankar and silt upto 50m depth.
A comparitive
study of water level map of 1960 and 2002 shows in Singhola the water
level which was at 2 to 5m below ground level has gone down to 10
to 20 mts below ground level
In
Singhola the occurrance of fresh water in alluvium formation is upto
a depth of 30m to 60m. Below that level saline or brackish water occurs.
The amount of fresh water is decreasing due to extraction.
| IV.RECOMMENDATION FOR AUGMENTATION
OF GROUNDWATER |
The
intake capacity of recharge structures will be low in shallow water
table condition. Hence in Singhola where the ground water level is
below 10m rainwater harvesting can be taken up.
