Awards October 25, 2002: Anil Agarwal Awarded 2001 Sat Paul Mittal Award for Environment The 3rd Sat Paul Mittal Annual Award 2001 on population and environment was awarded to Anil Agarwal (Posthumously) for the activities undertaken in the field of environment. Anil Agarwal shares this award with the Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health (SEARCH), an NGO actively engaged in population activities. The Sat Paul Mittal award was instituted by the Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development in memory of its Chairman, the late Shri Sat Paul Mittal, who took upon himself the daunting task of tackling the population problem in the country and worldwide and made it a peoples movement. The award was given on October 25, 2002 at a function organized by Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (IAPPD). Anil Agarwals wife, Sudha Agarwal, received the award on his behalf from Shatrughan Sinha, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, who was the chief guest to the ceremony. |
