Focus on being proactive, rather than reactive
At a meeting to prepare for the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in New Delhi, South Asian groups emphasised the need for developing countries to suggest solutions, rather than simply identify problems.

In barely nine months, world leaders will meet in Johannesburg to take stock of global progress towards sustainable development since the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The (WSSD) is currently scheduled for August 26 to September 4, 2002, Unlike UNCED, where preparations began well in advance, very little has been achieved so far to ensure a successful outcome at WSSD.To read the action points agreed upon by the participants at the meeting.
